Melinda Pratt was rescued as an infant from a massacred
Indian village and given a loving home by her adopted father. Even
though her new parents are accepting of her and her heritage, she
struggles for acceptance in the nearby town, especially as Indian
violence threatens the town and its people.
Despite the harsh words and judging eyes of many of
the townspeople, Melinda finds acceptance and friendship she needs
from Will, the boy who lives on the neighboring ranch. They've known
each other since they were children and as they grow to young adults,

Karen Cogan has a background in elementary education and has written
children’s books as well as many articles and stories. She
also writes inspirational, contemporary and historical romance.
Karen lives in the Southwest, where she enjoys the opportunity
for outdoor activities with her husband, children, and enough assorted
pets to fill a small zoo.
